We designed Net Integrator to function like an expertly run IT department. It is a complete small office network-in-a-box. Whether you're building a network from scratch or are improving your existing network, Net Integrator will get you up and running in no time. We've built in features that automate the configuration of local desktops, and simplify the set-up of user accounts, passwords, and file sharing. Email has become critically important to the successful operation of many businesses, so Net Integrator provides reliable email access for everyone in your office.

Security

Protecting the integrity of your company's data and securing access to it is a priority. Net Integrator's intelligent, auto-configuring firewall keeps attackers in check, and eliminates mis-configuration that may result from human error. Net Integrator's backup utility reliably backs-up and restores all of your files as often as every 15 minutes. Our SystemER feature lets you recover from any hardware failure in just two minutes, without significant loss of data.

Even upgrading the system is easier that you'd expect: our Soft-Update feature lets you upgrade your server software with just two clicks of the mouse.

File Sharing

Sharing files between Windows, Macintosh, and Unix workstations.

Net Integrator acts as a central, integrated file server, allowing a user on any kind of workstation to share files with any other workstation.

Each user with an account on a Net Integrator can have private space for his or her personal files. Plus, you can create special accounts called teams, and each member of a team can access all the files belonging to that team.

Net Integrator supports CIFS/SMB (Windows File Sharing), Appleshare IP (for Macintosh systems), and NFS (for Unix systems), and all the files accessible from one type of computer are accessible from all the others. If you want, you can also make a user or team's files available using FTP or HTTP (web), so it's easy to publish a web site.

And make no mistake - this is not another low cost, underpowered network appliance. In industry-standard file server tests, Net Integrator performed 700%-900% faster than competitors in its class.

Every user's files can be automatically backed up as often as every 15 minutes, so nobody ever loses their work in case of crashes or hardware failures.

Best of all, these features are available instantly, with no extra configuration or software installation, as soon as you create user and team accounts.

User Teams

Configuring user accounts, passwords, file sharing, web publishing, and email all in one place.

From the moment you create a new user account on Net Integrator, the user automatically gets a private folder to store files. This folder can be accessed from any kind of workstation using Windows, Apple, or Unix file sharing protocols. In addition, the user also gets a personal web page and email address.

But people don't work independently; they collaborate in teams. You can create a team account on Net Integrator with resources that get shared between all members of the team. For example:

A team can publish a virtual web site such as www.support.mycompany.com.
All email to the team - say, support@mycompany.com - gets sent to all team members automatically.

Files can be stored in the team's shared document space, to help people work together or share information needed by everyone on the team.

A team can also belong to other teams, making it easy to configure which users on your system have access to which files.

DHCP Server

Making it easier to configure your local workstations.

With some server and gateway products, you need to install special software or make operating system customizations on each workstation. Not with Net Integrator.

Net Integrator includes a built-in DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) server, which assigns an IP address to each workstation on the local network automatically. You never need to configure any of the IP settings by hand on any workstation, and if your network topology changes, Net Integrator can send the updates out to workstations using DHCP.

Plus, the DHCP server is self-configuring. Using advanced NetIntelligence technology, the server automatically determines which addresses on the local network are in use and which ones are not, and Net Integrator will only give out not-in-use addresses

System Recovery

Recovering from any hardware failure in two minutes.

Net Integrator allows you to recover from a system failure in just 2 minutes with a unique technology, found only on Net Integrators, called SystemER (Emergency Recovery). With this feature, recovering is a snap.

Net Integrator recovers from two different kinds of hardware failure:

1. The built-in hard disk can fail. If this happens, all shared files and directories will no longer be accessible, but Net Integrator will, incredibly, continue to function as an Internet gateway and firewall, thanks to the separate non-volatile solid state disk where it stores the Nitix operating system. After a failure, simply replace the failed hard disk and all disk-based services (such as file sharing and email) come back online immediately. Then press the Restore button on the front panel to recover older files from backups while the server keeps running.

2. Any other part of the server might fail. If this happens, slide the functioning hard disk out from its tray, slide it into a second Net Integrator, and move the network cables from the first Net Integrator to the other. The new Net Integrator will automatically update its settings, create user accounts, and configure itself to work exactly like the original server. Without even restoring from backup, your network continues to run as if nothing ever happened.

Worried about power failures or not "properly" shutting down Net Integrator? Because of its advanced journaling file system, files on the hard drive are always consistent, even if the power is suddenly lost. Best of all, no time-consuming file system checks are needed when powering back on!

System Back Up

Reliably backing-up and restoring all files, as often as every 15 minutes

Net Integrators (with the exception of our Lite model) include an integrated intelligent disk backup (idb) system (alternatively, an integrated tape backup system is available.) This makes it simple and easy for any organization to make a safe copy of all its files. There's no need to shut down the server, and there's no need to install extra software or plug ins. And you'll never have to worry about incremental versus full backup sets.

 Internet Access

Net Integrator makes sure that connecting your office to the Internet is simple, reliable, and extremely secure. We've developed built-in connectivity features that simplify the process, and included firewall protection to safeguard your office network from attacks. Net Integrator's one-of-a-kind DoubleVision feature uses more than one Internet connection to improve both speed and reliability. And our Solid State Disk maintains an Internet connection even if the server's hard disk fails.

Remote Access

Need to connect multiple branch offices, or access your network while you're on the road? Net Integrator gives you a Virtual Private Network, or VPN, to securely connect your central office to one or more branch offices. You can control user workstations remotely and even provide a remote helpdesk, enabling you to provide system support for all your branches from one location using Remote Workstation Management. The built-in Remote Access Server (RAS) feature provides access to your files even while you're away from the office, and WebMail gives you secure access to your email from anywhere in the world using a web browser.

Web Hosting

Net Integrator also enables you to host your own web site, and even utilize e-commerce capabilities, with our Dynamic DNS feature. This unique capability simplifies and automates publishing a web site while reducing costs.

Firewall

Using Net Integrator's firewall to protect your office network from intruders.

Whenever you connect to the Internet, you run the risk of being targeted by attackers. Net Integrator includes a state-of-the-art auto-configuring firewall that requires no setup and offers protection from net hackers and other intruders.

The firewall handles stateful inspection of all incoming IP packets and performs network and port address translation, hiding the internal network from the Internet. When you want to publish Internet services, the advanced Fast Forward proxy service allows simple and safe access to protected servers behind the firewall.

And best of all, Net Integrator's firewall is completely automatic - you don't need to configure any special options, and your whole network is protected instantly

Accessing your files using Remote Access Services..

Net Integrator provides a PPTP RAS (Remote Access Services) feature that is compatible with the Microsoft VPN Client that comes with all recent Windows computers. Microsoft-compatible PPTP software is also available for Macintosh and Unix.

Using RAS, users connect to the Net Integrator over the Internet using 128-bit encryption. Users can then access all network services (including other remote offices on the VPN) exactly as if they were connected locally.

VPN

Securely connecting your central office to one or more branch offices.
Net Integrator includes TunnelVision technology, a highly secure Virtual Private Network (VPN) system that can be configured in just a few seconds.

Using the Internet instead of expensive dedicated private lines, TunnelVision is a safe, easy, and inexpensive way to connect offices to each other. Data is protected in transit using highly secure 128-bit and 1024-bit encryption algorithms similar to those used in online banking.

Web Server

Running an e-commerce capable web site.

Net Integrator provides the industry-standard Apache web server, which has many features including the following:

Best of all, the web server is self-configuring. A webmaster team is automatically created, and the regular and secure web servers are automatically enabled for your local network. Later, by changing only one option, you can open your web site to the world.

Web Mail

Securely access your email from anywhere in the world using a web browser.

Net Integrator includes standards-compliant Internet e-mail services like SMTP, POP-3, and IMAP. That means your favourite email client such as Netscape, Eudora, or Microsoft Outlook will work perfectly with Net Integrator's email server.

However, sometimes you want to avoid installing extra software, or you want to access your email from a computer that's not your own. In that case, you can access Net Integrator's secure WebMail server from any encryption-capable web browser, anywhere on the Internet.

WebMail works much like Microsoft Hotmail and other web-based mail providers, except it's hosted on your very own server. That way, you can always be comfortable that your mail stays private. It also interoperates perfectly with Net Integrator's standard email services, so you can switch back and forth between an IMAP mail reader (like Outlook) and WebMail whenever you want
